long-term investment
when you start thinking bout investment, this surely what is going to be in your mind. moneeeeeey.
but no no no, i’m not going to talk about money now. it is another form of investment that WE need to practice everyday cause for me, it is the key to a determinate life.
do you know one thing that you unconsciously do, that you think "ok this fine" but this actually NOT ok. all humans do this i assume, even cats lol. Procrastinate. yes, Procrastination. but please, differ this with laziness. when you procrastinate, you chose to do something instead of what you should be doing meanwhile when you're lazy, blah, you just do not want that, go to hell.
so, procrastination is the "infection" that can lead to a long-term indisposition if you cannot control it. i mean, we do procrastinate, who doesn't? but the difference is the way you handle them. most of the time, this thing is very disturbing. imagine, when you should do something (that might be important, that you don't know it is gonna be good for you ahead) but you choose to lay down on the bed, daydreaming how you be someone you wanted to become.
instead of chasing your dream, why you just dreaming of it? do not let a dream just be a dream ok? go for it, baby steps, little by little, and you're gonna be there. ...by not procrastinating.
however as a regular human, i do understand. not all procrastination are bad. some of it might be your redirection to another way, but let’s not to talk about that some. people like us, love to be in a position where we are promised to something that is good, beautiful, and perfect. while, we forgot to think that those beautiful things are also carrying the ugly things as well. nothing’s perfect, eh? we drown in comfort until discomfort feels unfamiliar, and that is not wrong, but i personally do not want to live like that.
in this context, i might say procrastination = comfortability.
why?
when we procrastinate, we think that we have time. clock’s ticking, honey. we are not. life is a mystery, we never know what’s coming in and out.
when we procrastinate, we do what we think it’s important but actually isn’t. when we already planning to do something and we got distracted by scrolling down our social media timeline about a celebrity break-ups and how they’re doing, do you think it is important? it is, but i think it is just not your business. you have something more important, so let’s do what’s more important, your plan.
when we procrastine, we tend to be in a “comfortable” phase where we are easily put into our “fantasizing” phase. delulu is one of my way to entertain myself with songs, sceneries, my own scenarios, and people. but here actually is the crucial step of your time. we let ourselves be drawn that deeplu into our own scenarios till we realized that is not the reality. instead of doing that, why not doing real things that could have been big steps for your life ahead?
procrastination without a plausible reason, is not healthy.
what to do?
realization. you might need to be having goals. i know we love YOLO idea, but even having YOLO moments need goals as well. classifying might be the best word for it. i believe we are blessed with competences to choose what is best and what is not for us.
knowing yourself better. we know ourselves, but do you know yourself enough? do you love yourself enough? do you like yourself enough? and do you agree with yourself enough? the answer is yours to know.
all in all, self-control is the key. brains are not there without reason. what we have now and what we live in, are not there without a reason.
so, think. the ability to control ourselves is a long-term investment. and how to do it? knowing yourself.
set goals, planner, or everything you call it as long as it keeps you grounded.
write it down or type it down. whatever you call it.
and please implement your goals with reasonable and measured expectations. if not, we might be welcoming another problem; dissapointment.
but let’s just focus on the self-control now, ok?
